We did it!
Wow, how cool was that? I mean, we're down 3-1 in the third, but we never gave up, never stopped battling and now we're world junior champs. We got a lucky break on the winner, but that was great work by Pat O'Sullivan, he made that play happen and deserves all the credit.
It really hasn't sunk in yet that we won, but we're real proud to be the first U.S. team to win this event. That means a lot to us, something we'll always be able to look back on and tell our kids and their kids about.
It was so amazing to be a part of this team, to hear the national anthem played all the way over here in Finland. They raised the flag up and played the song, it's hard to describe that feeling. I know I wasn't even born when the Miracle on Ice happened, but maybe this is how they felt. Not that it's on the same level, but to represent the U.S. and beat our big rivals, like they did back then, it's such a great feeling.
I have to make sure to mention my teammates, because we all worked so hard to get to this point, and they deserve all the credit in the world. We have a great coaching staff, too, they kept things positive when it didn't look too good today. We didn't get down, and now look where we are!
Thanks for all of your support, it really means a lot. We're a long way from home, and we can't wait to get back and show off our medals :) Talk to you all soon.
